It was in 1979 that designer and craftsman Toshikazu Aoki first built his Kyoto studio.  Straight lines and symmetry were the dominant trends in jewelry design, as people considered the form found in refined Western Art the norm.

With each Niwaka jewelry item comes a name which stirs the imagination, and a Haiku-like short story.  The art of Haiku- infinite expression in a minimum number of words- is also a quint essentially Japanese art.  These poems breathe life into each piece and serve as a message to those who wear it.
